“I’m a painter who’s obsessed with manipulating materials using organic methods. I’ve always been obsessed with the ‘aesthetics of nature’ and it’s visual power within our environment.
I have environmental studies and urban studies, each of ambient/quiet/atmospheric scenes; all based on photography taken and collected. I have produced figurative studies; exploring portraiture using the same painting techniques, however my obsession lies within location, and the atmosphere a space alone can provide.
Over the years I have developed techniques of mixed media painting, using methods of creating scenes built of purely strong light/dark contrasts. My imagery is based on the atmospheric style of film noir; its monochromatic, cinematic and distinctive effects.”
